Having goals and targets in life is extremely important – it helps one keep things in focus, not to mention being able to chart one’s progress towards a particular goal. Samsung, who enjoyed a great year when it comes to phone sales, intends to move up the ladder in terms of sales figures when 2012 rolls around. In fact, the Korea Economic Daily reports that Samsung hopes to increase their total sales by as much as 15%, which would translate to approximately 374 million phones (where that figure includes 150 million smartphones) being sold next year. That figure is nearly equal to what Nokia sells, minimizing the gap between the two.

Such ambitions are in stark contrast compared to the figures from a couple of years ago, where Samsung had half the market share of Nokia. Along the way, it was a little bit of Nokia slacking in the sales department and Samsung picking up their game and upping the ante. Do you think Samsung has what it takes to ship 374 million phones next year?
