Sitting in front of your desk all day is definitely not good for health, and we all know that exercise is conducive to a healthy lifestyle, so what better way to get some work done while exercising than with K-TOR’s new Power Box portable charging device? If the pedals in the above photo did not already give it away, the Power Box is a portable charging device that allows the user to charge their gadgets simply by pedaling.

It’s basically a pedal powered generator with a dual-pronged outlet that one can plug into an AC adapter. According to K-TOR, the Power Box should work for devices rated 20W and below, which means for the most part, low-power netbooks, tablets, smartphones, video devices and portable game systems should be compatible with the Power Box.

Based on its measurements of 4.5 x 4.5 x 8.75”, it’s not overly large nor conspicuous, so you should be able to slide it under your office desk at work. While we’re not sure if a study done by the British Journal of Sports Medicine last year could be referring to a device like K-TOR’s Power Box, it was said that participants who took part in the survey, and who pedaled on a small pedaling machine burnt as much as 500 calories a day while pedaling a total distance of 13.5 miles.

Of course the mileage and calories burnt will differ from person to person, but hey, some form of exercise is better than no exercise, right? Expect to pick up the K-TOR Power Box for $150. [Product page]
