Olympus continues their march to expand their digital camera market share with the release of the Olympus SP-620UZ, where it will come with a high-magnification zoom lens which is capable of handling a remarkably wide shooting range thanks to focal lengths ranging from 25mm wide-angle to 525mm telephoto. Despite being a compact, palm-size camera, Olympus engineers have managed to cram in a high-powered super-telephoto capability which are what normally make SLR cameras gain their notorious bulk and weight. Since the Olympus SP-620UZ comes in such a diminutive form factor, it is the ideal traveling companion, delivering more than what most point-and-shoot fans would expect without adding more bulk to your luggage.

Of course, serious hobbyists who want to take things to the next level might want to give the Olympus SP-620UZ a miss, since this will target the average, man-on-the-street crowd by virtue of it being an “all-in-one” camera. With a super-telephoto 21x optical zoom, you are able to shoot big, up-close images of even the most distant subjects. Other hardware specifications include DUAL Image Stabilization, HD movie recording capability, an SDXC memory card slot, and 11 Magic Filters to be even more creative. Out in Japan this February 17, another major advantage of the Olympus SP-620UZ would be its use of AA batteries as the primary source of power. [Press Release]
