With the earth’s population having an enviable collection of languages, having a knack for picking up languages is always a good thing. However, if you do not have the natural talent for it, then the AT&T Translator will have to do just fine for you, where this universal translator will arrive on iTunes as well as Google Play as a start. Currently capable of translating seven languages in real time, the supported languages would include English, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese and Spanish. Needless to say, assuming the app itself catches on in a big way, then expect additional language support to be thrown into the mix as well.

Developed at AT&T Research Labs, this new Translator app relies on AT&T Watson and AT&T Natural Voices speech technologies to get the job done. Using it is a no-brainer – all you need to do is speak a phrase into your device, and the Translator will get to work right away to a previously selected language prior to broadcasting it to listeners. Imagine a more borderless communication now with different business partners and entities worldwide without first having to learn the language. However, no matter how great or accurate a translation app works, it is still unable to teach you the culture of a people, and that is something which can be achieved only by living among them.
