Given the graphic state of games in today’s day and age, we’re sure that there were many Diablo fans who were hoping to see a huge improvement in graphics for the upcoming Diablo 3. Something first or third person, perhaps? While that might have looked impressive on paper, would a 3D Diablo 3 playable in first or third person be as fun to play compared to its original style? While we may never know, such an idea was originally pitched for the Diablo 3 but was quickly shot down by director Jay Wilson. Speaking to games.on.net:

“Very early on in the process we had some people who argued that we should not make the game isometric, that it would be better technology, more modern, if we made a third or first-person game […] I really would have nothing of it. For me a camera is not a technology choice, there’s more than enough first and third-person games out there.”

What do you guys think? Would a Diablo 3 played in first or third person style be a game that you are very interested in, or are you glad that Blizzard decided to stick to its current gameplay and stylings? Personally I’d much prefer Diablo the way it is now, but what say you?
