Ricoh has just announced a portable, sleek, self-contained videoconferencing system which is said to be extremely easy to use – like that of a mobile phone. Capable of hooking up to 20 other participants simultaneously with but a single press of a button, the Ricoh P3000 Unified Communication system has been touted to offer the security and audiovisual quality of far more expensive, fixed-room videoconferencing systems without a similar price tag. Definitely one of the more affordable methods of placing secure, encrypted, high-end conferencing communications within reach of small and medium-sized businesses.

Taking approximately half a minute to begin a video conference, the P3000 allows you to pick participants from the address book, press connect and you are good to go. As for the hardware involved, the P3000 Unified Communication System measures a mere 40mm thin, sporting a camera, microphone, speaker, network connectivity and a push-button console. It will retail for $1,650, where that includes a subscription to a cloud service. [Press Release]
