Sony has just launched its new VAIO S series. The company prides its VAIO S series for their versatility and mobility. The new VAIO S series offers power and portability to its users. It comes in two sizes – 13.3-inch and 15.5-inch displays. Both notebooks feature a slim, full-flat design that’s perfect for road warriors and frequent travelers. The VAIO S Series 13 and 15 are made from tough, lightweight materials including magnesium, carbon fiber and aluminum. The new S series also features a new slot-in optical drive that contributes to its slim design, and VAIO Display Plus which features enhanced scratch resistance and anti-reflective coating that minimizes glare.

The S series 13, for example, features the VAIO Display Premium for even richer colors, while the S series 15 has a Full HD VAIO Display Plus that offers wide viewing angles. Avid Sony VAIO users will be glad to hear that the S series will sport a comfortable backlit keyboard that has a large button-free touchpad with gesture control capability. The S series will be powered by Intel’s 3rd generation Core i7 quad-core processors together with NVIDIA’s GeForce dynamic hybrid graphics.

The VAIO S series will also feature a high-speed LTE/ 3G WMAN mobile broadband to keep users wired while on the move. In case we forget, Sony also said that its new VAIO S series will have an optional docking station that includes an integrated a 500 GB hard disk drive and an extended sheet battery that will enable these computers to last up to 14 hours. It’s important to note that today’s announcement applies to the consumers in the U.K. alone. Unfortunately, the pricing and the corresponding release dates for the U.S. has yet to be announced.
