Sony is set to release its PlayStation Pulse Explore Earbuds just in time for the holiday season, with a scheduled launch date of December 6th at a price of $199.99. These wireless earbuds are specifically designed for gamers and according to the official PlayStation blog, will be the only Bluetooth headphones on the market compatible with the PlayStation Portal, an upcoming portable gaming device by Sony.

Pre-orders for the Pulse Explore Earbuds will begin on Thursday, November 9th at 10 a.m. ET. These earbuds connect to the PS5 through the PlayStation Link, a USB adapter that is included with the package. The device offers versatility and allows easy switching between your PlayStation gaming console, phone, or computer. It features an AI-enhanced microphone equipped with noise rejection capabilities to isolate the user’s voice and filter out unwanted background noise.

Professional Audio Quality

Despite their price tag, the Pulse Explore Earbuds offer professional audio quality with planar magnetic drivers, a technology typically found in studio-grade listening equipment. These drivers provide a more controlled and less distorted audio experience, particularly in the bass range.

Gamers will also appreciate the 3D Audio support for supported PS5 games, offering an immersive three-dimensional audio experience with high precision. The earbuds provide a 5-hour battery life, with an additional 10 hours available through the charging case.

Pulse Elite Arriving in 2024

Additionally, Sony plans to release the Pulse Elite headset, an over-the-ear Bluetooth model with an impressive 30 hours of battery life, on February 21, 2024, priced at $149.99. Pre-orders for this headset also open on November 9th.

It’s worth noting that both the Pulse Explore Earbuds and Pulse Elite headset are the exclusive wireless audio options for the PlayStation Portal (which is launching on November 15).

While the Portal offers a 3.5mm audio jack for wired listening, it lacks Bluetooth capabilities outside of the PlayStation Link. Moreover, it’s important to keep in mind that the PlayStation Portal remote player is only functional within the confines of your home when connected to your PS5 gaming console.
