When it comes to smartphones these days, taking the dual-core route is just not quite enough. The quad-core route seems to be the next big thing, and consumer electronics giant LG from South Korea does not want to miss out on the bandwagon, having announced that they have every intention to release their very own quad-core L9 chipset sometime later this September. The LG L9 will boast of a quad-core ARM processor alongside a beefy GPU, albeit the architecture remains unannounced. The number ‘9’ is there for a reason, as it does point towards the possibility of it being based on the older generation ARM Cortex-A9 cores, rather than the more recent Cortex-A15 architecture. All we need is plenty of patience and wait for September to roll around on our calendars, as we await for the truth to be uncovered. Expect at least a 10-megapixel camera and a True HD-IPS display on this puppy when it arrives! It should then be priced somewhere on the high end side, too.
