Budweiser has just announced the unveiling of their Buddy Cup, where this particularly unique drinking instrument is actually a beer glass, but boy oh boy, what a smart beer glass this has turned out to be! The Buddy Cup from Budweiser is smart enough to connect to Facebook, and this is made possible thanks to a built-in chip. The Buddy Cup is the brainchild of Agencia Africa in partnership with Bolha, where the latter is a digital innovation studio in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and the glass would be able to get to work by instantly enabling people to be friends with each other on Facebook whenever they toast using the Buddy Cup beer glass.

According to Sergio Gordilho, chief creative officer at Agencia Africa, “Innovation is in Budweiser’s DNA. Its platforms are constantly surprising consumers with the best there is in terms of premium experiences. The “Buddy Cup” is another idea bringing the brand even closer to its consumers and opening new levels of interaction for them.”

The whole idea of the Buddy Cup is to enhance brand activation as well as increase the interaction levels between Budweiser consumers who decide to drop by the brand’s sponsored parties, concerts as well as festivals. One thing’s for sure, this is very different from the rumored HTC Budweiser!
