If you’re thinking about picking up a Sony handset for yourself but don’t have the cash to splash for Sony’s higher-end phones like the Xperia Z, you’re in luck as Sony has announced the Xperia M, a budget Android smartphone which we believe should be able to get the job done and then some. The device features a 4” TFT display with a FWVGA resolution and will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus chipset with a dual-core processor clocked at 1GHz, Adreno 305 graphics and will be accompanied by 1GB of RAM. The Xperia M will also sport a 5MP rear-facing camera with Sony’s Exmor RS sensor that is capable of 720p HD video recording, a 0.3MP front-facing camera, and 4GB of onboard storage which can be expanded. It will also come with the usual connectivity options such as WiFi, 3G, Bluetooth 4.0, and NFC. It will also run on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Sony has also announced that there will be a dual-SIM version of the phone available, and both devices are expected to be made available in Q3 later this year, although pricing has yet to be determined.
