alcatel_idol_x_plus_fron_leakEarlier this year, Alcatel unveiled their One Touch Idol X handset which boasts some pretty impressive specs, especially for a brand that might not necessarily be the forerunner when it comes to smartphones in today’s market. Well it looks like Alcatel could be already working on a successor to the One Touch Idol X, and apparently the device could be tentatively known as the Idol X+, thanks to leaked images which are supposedly that of the new handset.

The photos also show off MediaTek’s branding on the back of the phone, so it would be safe to assume that the device could feature the company’s latest octa-core processor, which unlike Samsung’s Exynos 5-series that relies on the big.LITTLE configuration, MediaTek’s chipset will run all 8 cores at once. In any case apart from that possibility, other specs could feature a 5” display or better, with 2GB of RAM, and will obviously run on Android, although which version remains unknown. Take it with a grain of salt for now, but with CES 2014 taking place in January of 2014, and with MWC 2014 in February of 2014, there is a good chance we could learn more about the device then.
