xiaomi-new-tablet

China based Xiaomi, often referred to as the Apple of China, could be working on a new tablet. Its been a while since we’ve heard of anything being cooked up in the company’s labs and if rumors are true, a 9.2 inch budget tablet could be its next new product. While the company hasn’t dropped any hints as yet, the tablet recently popped up on the GFXBench website, possibly revealing what the tablet may tout under the hood.

Specifications logged in GFXBench reveal that the tablet has a 9.2 inch 1280×720 pixel resolution display as well as a ARM Cortex A7 quadcore processor from Qualcomm coupled with roughly 1GB of RAM, Adreno 305 graphics, 8GB of onboard storage as well as a 7 megapixel rear and 1.5 megapixel front camera. The tablet may not come with Android 4.4 KitKat pre-installed. The rear camera is also believed to have HDR and autofocus.

Xiaomi is well known for producing and selling high-end devices at relatively low price points, that has been its business model for quite some time now, so it would obviously be a departure for the company from its usual track if it decides to sacrifice performance to keep costs down. Could this be Xiaomi’s way of better competing in the global market, where low-end and competitively priced products are often in demand? Time will tell.
