It has been quite some time, but at long last, the long awaited OnePlus One smartphone has launched, where its manufacturer has decided to go straight for the jugular by calling it the “2014 Flagship Killer”. Yup, that’s right, it does not seem as though anything else is going to be able to stand up to the OnePlus One, or is it just an overglorified title that it does not deserve?

First things first, the hardware specifications that separate the men from the boys, so to speak. Taking after the OnePlus motto of ‘Never Settle’, the OnePlus One will feature industry leading design, superior build quality and top of the line specs at a price point that is sure to be disruptive at the very least.

Specially designed to be pleasing to the eyes, it is also timeless to behold and comfortable in the hand. You will find the OnePlus One arrive with subtle curves, sleek lines and a slightly raised, jet-black display. It measures a mere 8.9mm thin, and boasts of a tapered edge of just 4.6mm that makes it ergonomically easy to tote around.

The OnePlus One will be powered by CyanogenMod 11S, which is a special release that has been tuned to take advantage of everything that the OnePlus One comes with. Customizing this handset is virtually limitless, where you can mix and match thousands of themes, or to return to stock if you like.

Capture all that goes on around you with 4K video, before you relive those moments from the cloud in Gallery, now how about that? There is also SMS encryption between your One and CyanogenMod, while a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor runs proceedings from within at 2.5GHz. It will be accompanied by custom Krait CPU architecture, integrated 4G LTE connectivity, Qualcomm Adreno 330 GPU and 3GB RAM, in addition to a 5.5” Full HD display with a 178-degree vision display. Looks like the rumors were true after all. A 3,100 mAh battery ought to keep it going for the entire day, while the back boasts of a Sony Exmor IMX214 13 megapixel camera with f/2.0 aperture and dual LED flash.

The OnePlus One will first be made available in Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, United Kingdom, and the United States in 16GB Silk White for $299 and 64GB Sandstone Black for $349. The Incredible Hulk would definitely love the process of picking a OnePlus One up as it involves a smashing good time in a marketing stunt that involves you smashing your handset so that you can pick the OnePlus One for just $1 – applicable to the first 100 folks only.
