gsnote2-kitkatHas it been close to a couple of years already since the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 was first introduced to the world? Well, we have long published our review since then, and back in the day, it proved to be one of the better smartphones around, or phablet if you would like to make use of the term. Apparently, an official Android 4.4 KitKat update is being introduced to the Galaxy Note 2 for those who live in France via KIES, and it is the international model of the Samsung Galaxy Note II model that we’re referring to – the GT-N7100.

It remains to be seen just when will the carrier-specific variants of the Galaxy Note 2 be on the receiving end of such an update, but like a great many of you, it is hoped that the sooner, the better. Sprint has already confirmed that its version of the Galaxy Note 2 will be on the receiving end of Android 4.4 KitKat later this year, and so it would not be amiss if Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile will play catch up in due time down the road.

What you see on the right is one of the few screenshots that has leaked out, depicting Android 4.4.2 KitKat running on the Galaxy Note 2 N7100. One can also continue to hope that Samsung will see Android 4.4 KitKat delivered to older devices this year, where users of the Galaxy S3 will definitely appreciate such a move if it happens.
