Someone who happens to have more than just a passing interest in the soon-to-arrive Nintendo 3DS title Tomodachi Life has started to kick off a campaign in order to have the folks over at Nintendo to throw in the possibility of same-sex relationships in the game itself. Tomodachi Life happens to be a rather zany life simulation title which will place its emphasis on an island that has been populated with Miis, which are actually the Nintendo avatars that made their first appearance when the Nintendo Wii was released some years back.

On this particular island, the Miis are able to end up as friends, rivals and also to tie the knot as husband and wife. Miis of the same gender, however, would not be able to form such matrimonial relationships. The sequel to the Japan-exclusive 2009 3DS title Tomodachi Collection will see same-sex marriage between men allowed because of a strange bug, although that bug was patched by Nintendo shortly after it was released.

Tye Marini, a gay man, decided to start a campaign that will hopefully see Nintendo open the doors to include same-sex relationships to Tomodachi Life. Surely his dedication to the cause cannot be underestimated, but do you think Nintendo as a gaming company will follow up with a favorable answer? Only time will tell.
