It seems that Samsung is working pretty hard this year at putting out more tablets than ever. If our count is right, it seems that Samsung has already released 7 tablets and it looks like there will be one more on its way called the Samsung Galaxy Tab S. This is according to the folks at SamMobile who were tipped off at the tablet’s existence.
According to their sources, it sounds like the Galaxy Tab S is going to combine some of the features of Samsung’s Galaxy Note/Tab Pro tablets along with the Samsung Galaxy S5. What this means is that if the rumors are true, the Galaxy Tab S will feature a 2,560×1,600 display and will come with a fingerprint sensor as well, both of which are features of the Galaxy devices we just mentioned.
The tablet will also allegedly feature a Samsung Octa-core Exynos 5420 chipset. This will be based on ARM’s big.LITTLE architecture which will see four 1.9GHz Cortex A15 cores and four 1.3GHz Cortex A7 cores. The tablet is also said to pack 3GB of 32-bit dual-channel 933MHz RAM, an 8MP rear-facing camera, a 2.1MP front-facing camera, and the usual connectivity options like WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, LTE, and so on.
As far as software is concerned, the Galaxy Tab S will run on Android 4.4.2 KitKat. The tablet will also be designed like the Galaxy Tab 4 s if you liked what you saw then, perhaps the Galaxy Tab S might appeal to you as well. There are also accessories being designed for the Galaxy Tab S in the form of flip covers which will connect to the tablet via proprietary connectors embedded in the back of the tablet.
The Galaxy Tab S will also come in two different sizes – 8.4-inches and 10.5-inches, so if you wanted a sharper display, then you should go for the 8.4-inch model, although we’re not sure that with such a high resolution that you’d be able to tell the difference. No word on when Samsung will announce the Galaxy Tab S, so until we hear from Samsung, take it with a grain of salt for now.
