SLT-A99_wSAL2470Z_1-1024x768The Sony A99 was announced back in 2012 and is one of Sony’s more high-end DSLR cameras. It is certainly a beast with its specs but according to the folks at Sony Alpha Rumors, it seems that the Sony A99 could be discontinued soon. This is according to one of their sources who tipped them off to the possibility that the Sony A99 could be discontinued this summer.

Sony has yet to make any official announcements and as it stands, the Sony A99 is still available for purchase via your usual retailers, so it looks like the camera is still around and available for purchase, at least for now. Their source goes on to inform them that there is a possibility that the Sony A99 will be getting a successor, although no word on what kind of specs we might be looking at.

Like we said, nothing official from Sony yet so do take it with a grain of salt, but if you liked what the A99 brought to the table and were hoping that Sony would release a successor with better specs and improved functions and features, perhaps we will learn more in the coming weeks or months, so be sure to check back with us then to see if there are any additional details that can be had.
