Instagram started out as an iPhone app that allowed users to apply cool filters to their photos. Its popularity swelled after some time and the app was continuously updated with new features that made it even more powerful. If you believe that the app’s 18 filters aren’t enough to make it stand out against the competition then look what Instagram has in store for you. The latest update puts advanced controls in the users’ hands and also comes with ten new photo editing features.
Users can now adjust highlights, brightness, contrast, warmth, vignettes, sharpness and saturation in any photo after updating to Instagram 6.0 on both iOS and Android. A new wrench icon has been added to the edit screen from where all of these tools can be accessed.
The strength of any given tool can be set using a 100-point scale so you don’t necessarily need to know what vignettes are, you can just wing it and see if it produces the desired effect on the picture. This actually happens to be the first time that Instagram has put these tools in users’ hands, after evidently feeling pressure from rivals like VSCOcam.
