shieldtabSo we had heard the rumors that NVIDIA was planning a successor to the NVIDIA Shield handheld gaming console in the form of a Shield tablet. It’s an interesting rumor since a gaming tablet would be a pretty unique take on gaming as there aren’t that many gaming tablets out there in the market today.

Now thanks to a recent post by @evleaks, we could be getting our very first look at the NVIDIA Shield tablet, as you can see in the leaked press rendering in the image above. Upon first glance the tablet reminds us a bit of the HTC One M8 with its design and its front-facing stereo speakers, although in some ways it does resemble the NVIDIA Tegra Note tablet as well, except in a different color.

According to the rumors, we can look forward to a 7.9-inch display with 2GB of RAM, and an NVIDIA Tegra K1 CPU on board along with Unreal Engine 4 capabilities. The display resolution of the tablet remains unknown for now, but here’s hoping to a high-resolution one. It is also unclear if NVIDIA will be making the Shield tablet or if they will be sourcing it out to other OEMs and will just be providing a reference design.

Either way NVIDIA did hint that they would be unveiling the device by the end of the year, so do check back with us at a later date for the details! In the meantime what do you guys make of it?
