It has almost been a year since Motorola launched its Droid handsets. The Droid Maxx and Droid Mini are both exclusive to Verizon and its likely that their successors will go down the same route. The company itself hasn’t said anything about refreshing this lineup but today we have word that successors for both the Droid Maxx and Droid Mini are being prepared.

These aren’t the only Motorola devices that we have heard something about today. A purported successor of the Moto G was also seen today but it is not known if the company has any plans of launching one so soon.

This bit of information comes from @evleaks, who has a pretty solid track record when it comes to these things. According to the serial Twitter leaker the new Droid Maxx and Droid Mini models are codenamed “abbagoochie” and “valocia” respectively. The former is a well known mythical creature, and also not real, whereas this is the first time I’m hearing of “valocia.” These codenames could mean anything, really.

There isn’t a lot of information available about these two devices as yet though @evleaks does say that both of them will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, the same chip one would find in a Galaxy S5, so its likely that these devices will certainly pack a mean punch.

Motorola hasn’t commented on the report and it is unlikely to break its silence over any future devices at this point in time. We’ll keep our eyes peeled and update you if any more information regarding the new Droid handsets comes in.
