kobo-aura-h2oIt looks like Kobo has plans for a brand new eReader, where this particular model will be known as the Kobo Aura H2O. Having passed through the FCC not too long ago, the Kobo Aura H2O will arrive with a high resolution E Ink display, accompanied by a water- as well as dust-proof case. As to its purported release date, it seems that we now have additional details, thanks to a leaked specifications sheet, an image, a possible launch date as well as an alleged price tag attached to it.

Assuming that all of the planets are in alignment with one another, the Kobo Aura H2O will arrive when the calendar turns to the 1st of September, bringing along with it a price tag of $179 a pop. Now, the Kobo Aura H2O has been touted to arrive with IP67 certification, which more or less means one is able to leave it submerged up to three feet deep, for as long as 30 minutes, and it will continue to work just fine. Just make sure that the USB port cover remains tightly closed, of course.

Apart from that, the Kobo Aura H2O will come with a 6.8” E Ink Carta display, which will sport a resolution count of 1,430 x 1,080 pixels, and with it, a possibly higher screen refresh rate. As for what keeps it going, there will be a 1GHz processor that is accompanied by 4GB of internal memory, a microSD memory card slot, Wi-Fi connectivity, and up to 2 months of battery life – assuming you use it for reading for 30 minutes per day.
