sony-xperia-z3Just last week Sony took the wraps off two new mobile devices – the Sony Xperia Z3 and the Xperia Z3 Compact. The former will be Sony’s latest flagship while the latter will be a slightly smaller version with slightly different specs. Now the good news is that if you’ve had your eye on either device, you will be pleased to learn that online retailers have started to take pre-orders for the phones.

The Sony Xperia Z3 is currently available for pre-order via Carphone Warehouse where it is priced at $700. The Xperia Z3 Compact is available from Clove where it is priced at a slightly more affordable $570. We should point out that these devices from either retailer are sold off contract, meaning that these are the full retail prices and you will need to get your own line.

For those who’d rather not spend so much upfront, US carriers such as Verizon and T-Mobile are expected to start selling either handset later this year as well, so if you don’t mind signing a new two-year contract with either carrier then you’ll want to check back with us at a later date as we’ll keep you informed of its availability.

As a quick recap for those who missed the announcement, the Xperia Z3 will feature a 5.2-inch Full HD display with a 20.7MP camera with a 25mm lens, and will be powered by a 2.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor. The Xperia Z3 Compact is essentially the same in terms of hardware, but instead of a 5.2-inch display, the Xperia Z3 Compact will feature a 4.6-inch 720p HD display instead and a plastic frame.
