nexus-6-3While Google has dealt with large-ish phones in the past, such as the Nexus 5, it’s safe to say that Google has definitely entered into phablet category with the Nexus 6 and its whopping 5.9-inch display, but is 5.9-inches a bit too big? After all there were many who gave Apple grief over the iPhone 6 Pus’ 5.5-inch display, so what about a phone that’s close to 6-inches?

Well Google seems to believe that if people are willing to give it a try, that they would enjoy using such a big device. Speaking to the folks at CNET, Android’s VP of Engineering David Burke was quoted as saying,  “If you gave them a phablet for a week, 50 percent of those would say they like it and not go back.”

This seems to corroborate an earlier report in which it was revealed that Apple customers were more interested in the iPhone 6 Plus compared to the iPhone 6 as Apple is reportedly shifting focus away from the iPhone 6’s production to help produce more iPhone 6 Plus units to meet demands, which is why we can’t say we’re surprised by the notion that people might love a smartphone with a big display.

Of course there are some who will undoubtedly find that a phone with an almost 6-inch display will be too big for their purposes, but this ultimately boils down to personal preference. A larger display will afford better viewing for websites, photos, and games, but in terms of portability, it might not fit into pants pockets, which is something to take into consideration, but what say you? Will you be picking up a Nexus 6 for yourself?
