With some of its recent moves AT&T has made it pretty clear that it wants to be a major player in Mexico’s telecommunication market. Recently the company acquired Mexico’s third and fifth largest carriers and then brought unlimited calling and texting to Mexico for its World Connect Value plan subscribers. GoPhone, AT&T’s prepaid brand, will now take advantage of this as well. Subscribers on the $60 plan will be able to make unlimited calls and send unlimited texts to Mexico for no additional charge.
GoPhone subscribers who are on the $45 per month plan, which previously included 1GB of data, will now receive 1.5GB of data. The $60 plan previously offered 2.5GB data and now brings 4GB of LTE data on AT&T’s network.
Subscribers on both $45 and $60 plans also get Wi-Fi hotspot capability, unlimited nationwide talk and text as well as unlimited texting to Mexico. Unlimited calling facility is only being provided to those who subscribe to the $60 per month plan.
The changes come into effect on February 20th so there’s still a couple of days to go before GoPhone subscribers can take advantage of AT&T’s latest move for prepaid customers.
On GoPhone subscribers can either pay the entire cost of a phone upfront or they can bring over their own device and then pay for cellular services separately.
