motorola-droid-turbo-hands-on-5When it comes to Android OEMs, it is obvious that Samsung is currently leading the way, although at the same time we are starting to see more OEMs starting to catchup. In fact Motorola was one of those companies where it was announced during Lenovo’s quarterly earnings that the company had managed to ship 10 million smartphones.

This put Motorola on track to becoming profitable in the next few quarters and according to the company’s COO Rick Osterloh during an interview with Forbes, he believes that Motorola could soon catchup to other brands and becoming just as relevant as the big boys, such as Apple, Samsung, and Xiaomi.

In a statement made by Osterloh, “We are going through one of those fascinating shifts where people are starting to realize that you don’t need to pay $600 for a top-tier phone to get a top-tier experience. We are an alternative to other premium brands at a much better value. We are very confident in our approach.”

This was inferred by Forbes as a reference to companies like Nokia and BlackBerry who used to be at the top of their game back in the day, and it also seems to imply that companies such as Samsung (as an Android competitor) could be next, but what do you guys think?
