unnamed-31All sorts of videos can be found on YouTube, ranging from funny, weird, touching, and every once in a while you might come across a rather racy video which isn’t explicit, but not exactly safe for work either. Given how strict YouTube is and how fast they are at taking down content, it is almost impossible to find porn on it.

However according to reports, it has not stopped users from trying. It seems that a new attempt at uploading porn onto YouTube has been semi-successful as uploaders have started to title their videos using the Irish language. For example in the screenshot above, the word scannán might not mean much to some of us, but in the Irish language it means “film”.

Recently four channels have been busy uploading videos, as many as 20, and giving them titles in Irish. This allowed YouTubers searching for “film” to stumble upon what was really porn. In fact these videos actually existed on YouTube for months until it was revealed by journalist Maitiú Ó Coimín who writes for an Irish-language news service. It seems that his flatmate, who is a media student, accidentally stumbled upon them while searching for scannán.

It’s actually surprising that YouTube took this long before they discovered the content and took it down, although when they were alerted they certainly wasted no time. In a statement issued by a YouTube spokesperson, “YouTube’s community guidelines clearly state that sexually explicit content is not allowed on our site. We remove videos and channels that violate our policies when flagged for our attention.”
