iOS users have had to wait for a considerable amount of time for VLC to arrive. VLC as many of you would already be aware is a very popular media player that’s capable of playing most media formats. It did arrive on iOS in 2011 only to be pulled from the App Store because of a licensing dispute. Now though VLC for iOS has once again returned to the App Store.

The app’s return was spotted earlier today. At that time it was only live in certain countries but it shouldn’t take long until VLC for iOS is available in all markets where the App Store is accessible.

After being pulled from the App Store in 2011 it took two years for the app to return. In 2013 VLC for iOS was available for download once again but in September last year it was off the App Store for the second time.

The developer said back then that the app would return soon but it never did. Many months have passed since then and finally today we’re hearing the good news.

Users based in the United States who installed the previous version of this app before it was removed are reporting that they are able to update to the latest version, 2.4.1, right away.

Those who have to install from scratch can check out VLC for iOS on the App Store. If it hasn’t gone live already in their region it shouldn’t take more than day to arrive.
