EA Sports provided the first bit of information about FIFA 16 earlier this week and now more details are slowly trickling in, however expect major details to remain under wraps until EA’s press event in June. It has already been confirmed that this title will be released for the previous and next-gen consoles but now EA has confirmed that it won’t be releasing FIFA 16 for the PlayStation Vita and the Nintendo 3DS.

The bad news doesn’t end here if you happen to own the Nintendo Wii U, because like it did with FIFA 15, EA Sports appears to be passing on FIFA 16 for Wii U as well.

A representative for EA confirmed to PocketGamer that FIFA 16 isn’t going to be released for handheld consoles, and the representative wouldn’t commit about a release for mobile devices, so that’s up in the air too.

EA did release FIFA 15 for the PS Vita and Nintendo 3DS last year so fans of the franchise might have been hopeful that it would continue to support the handhelds this time around as well, but EA has other plans.

FIFA 16 is going to be released for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and the PC this September. It brings one of the biggest changes to have ever been made to the franchise, women’s football teams.
