FIFA happens to be a very popular franchise among football fans but up till now the game has not featured a woman on its U.S. cover and that changes this time around. For the first time ever a woman will be gracing a FIFA title’s cover in the United States and it’s going to be none other than the captain of the U.S. Women’s National Team Alex Morgan.
In a statement Morgan said that “It is an incredible honor to be one of the first women featured on the cover of FIFA,” adding that she’s really excited that FIFA 16 is putting an important spotlight on women’s football.
She’s sharing the cover with global football superstar Lionel Messi who’s going to be on the cover in all regions, Morgan said that sharing the cover with someone who is considered among the greatest players of the game is “surreal.”
Alex Morgan recently led her team to victory in the 2015 Woman’s World Cup which took place a few weeks back in Canada. Speaking of Canada, FIFA 16’s cover for Canada is going to feature the country’s Women’s National Team captain Christine Sinclair alongside Messi.
FIFA 16 is the first title in this franchise which features twelve of the top women’s national teams, the title will be released for PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One on September 22nd.
