Boeing 787

As scary as it sounds, A bug has been detected in Boeing’s 787 Dreamliner that could cause a sudden shut down of all electrical power in the plane, resulting in pilot to lose control over it.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has circulated a warning, saying that the aircraft’s electrical generators can trigger this problem, if they have been switched on continuously for eight months.

The bug unleashed itself in the laboratory test, it causes 787’s electrical generators to fall into failsafe mode every 248 days, or approximately eight months. The results could be tragic if the bug strikes during the landing or take-off, as the pilot could lose complete control over the machine.

Boeing is working towards fixing this bug, but as a temporary solution to this problem they have reset the power systems. As per Boeing’s records, as a part of routine maintenance, every jet in the fleet has been powered off and on, so there are thin chances for the plane going out of control mid-way.

The 787 Dreamliner has been under scrutiny for long, as it was also plagued with battery issues since its initial days, and there also came a point when FAA almost decided to shun the operation of this jet. Although the past issues have been taken care off, but this latest glitch might turn out to be troublesome for Boeing’s flagship airliner.
