For those who are planning on getting the Fallout 4 Pip-Boy Edition, you know that the Pip-Boy accessory that comes bundled with the game is really just a holder of sorts for your smartphone, but the question is what smartphones will it be compatible with? Given that smartphones come in all shapes and sizes, it wouldn’t be a one-size-fits-all situation, would it?
Well thankfully the folks at Bethesda have published on their blog the smartphones that will be compatible with it. According to Bethesda, “The Pip-Boy included will have foam inserts that fit iPhone 6, iPhone 5/5s, iPhone 4/4S, Samsung Galaxy 5, and Samsung Galaxy 4.” Oddly enough there is no mention of the Samsung Galaxy S6/S6 Edge.
However for gamers who do not have any of the phones listed above, fret not as the game will also be bundled with customizable foam inserts. “In addition, using the customizable foam insert you should be able to fit most other popular smartphone devices.” Bethesda also notes that to keep the device true to form, devices that have displays larger than the devices listed above will not be compatible.
Given that the largest device listed is the Samsung Galaxy S5 with a 5.1-inch display, we suppose that’s the max it will go. However the companion app will be available across all devices, just that you won’t look as cool using it without the Pip-Boy. In the meantime the Pip-Boy Editions will no longer be restocked once they’ve sold out, so gamers will want to move fast.
