A few years ago, a Korean artist by the name of Psy took the world by storm with the release of his song Gangnam Style, which also became the first video on YouTube to hit 1 billion views, breaking YouTube’s view counter in the process. In fact according to Google, the video netted Psy and his label a cool $8 million in advertising on YouTube.

Granted Psy isn’t as big as he was back then, but he’s still pretty well known and this is something the developers behind the game Crossy Road will be taking advantage of. They will be creating a Psy character within the game which will include voice acting and sound effects by the man himself.

Unfortunately his character will not be free and he can’t be earned through the vending machine either, meaning that gamers will have to fork out $2.99 for him. He will also be a limited time character so if you don’t purchase him now, after three months he will no longer be available for for collectors, this might be worth checking out.

According to Henry Fong the CEO of publisher Yodo1 who spoke to Polygon, “We wanted to do something really special for the Korean Update and thought incorporating Psy and his dance mode would not only have global appeal, but also add an entirely new game mode, complete with a re-designed scoring system, leaderboard, and traffic-dodging-dance tactics.”

Psy’s character will arrive in an update to the game which according to Crossy Road, should go live for all platforms at the same time. In the meantime you can get an idea of his character by checking out the video above.
