doom 4

Last month Bethesda finally announced a new Doom title, there is a lot of hype surrounding this game considering the fact that the last Doom title was released back in 2004. It has been 11 years since a Doom game has been released so fans are anxiously waiting to see what the new game will look like, particularly when it harnesses the power of next-generation consoles. There’s news about the new Doom’s campaign, unlike most recent titles that gel co-op experience within the campaign, this title will have a single-player only campaign at least initially.

This was confirmed by Doom’s executive producer Marty Stratton to PCGamer at QuakeCon 2015. Campaign co-op is not going to be a part of this title, Stratton said.

Instead Stratton points out that the game has SnapMap, an extensive level editor suite in the game, which lets players create what they want to play and they can create co-op levels. These custom levels can them be strung together to create a campaign-like playlist.

Stratton further elaborated that while players won’t necessarily be able to carry weapons from one level to the next, the level author can set it up knowing “you have this set of weapons as you go into this next component. It’s little bit more like a playlist.”

The new Doom title is expected to be released next year for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
