prison-break

Prison Break was a very popular Fox show that was yanked off the air in 2009 following two spectacular seasons and two that didn’t perform quite as well. Since this year appears to be the year of reboots Fox has decided that it’s going to bring back Prison Break for a 10 episode run later this year. Fox has already rebooted 24 and has also brought back The X-Files.

Prison Break creator Paul Scheuring is going to pen the first episode of this 10 episode run, Dominic Purcell and Wentworth Miller return to take their place as the focal characters: two brothers who get mixed up in some shady stuff and find themselves something to break out of again.

One major reason behind Fox’s decision to bring back Prison Break is the fact that it has proven to be a hit on online video streaming services like Netflix. It happens to be one of the most binge-watched shows on Netflix.

Fox executives have themselves said that services like Netflix have introduced a younger audience to this series and that’s probably one of the reasons why they’ve decided to go for a 10 episode run.

No air date has been announced yet and since there’s considerable work involved that ranges from penning the scripts to actually getting the actors to shoot all of it, Prison Break fans might have to wait for a while before the new episodes are aired.
