Just yesterday we reported that Google may announce a family plan for its music streaming service at the event today and that’s precisely what it has done, Google Play Music now has a family plan which allows multiple members of a family to share one single plan without each member having to pay for the subscription individually. Family plans are already offered by services like Spotify and Apple Music so it’s good to see that Google is finally catching up.

An individual subscription to Google Play Music costs $9.99 per month right now, if multiple members of a family want to subscribe you can see that the cost can be quite high so this is where the new family plan comes in handy.

For $14.99 per month the Google Play Music family plan allows up to six members to share the subscription, each with their own account, so they can retain an unique experience without having to individually pay for the service.

While Spotify and Rdio also offer similar plans they are charging more than Google, the Mountain View company has decided to match Apple Music’s family plan which also allows six subscribers on a single $14.99 per month family plan.

Google has only announced the new plan today and it hasn’t revealed as yet when the Google Play Music family plan will go live.
