mars-flowing-water

Mars is considered as a planet where humans could possibly establish colonies some day and work continues to achieve that aim, it’s going to be a long and arduous process and success is not guaranteed but that doesn’t stop NASA and even private companies like SpaceX from entertaining the notion that some day humans might be able to live on Mars. Conditions on the planet are vital to survival of life and a new discovery made by NASA researchers gives hope that some form of life might be discovered on the red planet.

The agency’s researchers have confirmed that liquid water flows on Mars, they have identified narrow streaks in satellite images during summer time on the planet which lengthen during the warm seasons and fade when the conditions become cooler.

The images taken from Mars orbit have shown long, dark stains on terrain reaching hundreds of meters downhill in the warmer months before drying up when surface temperatures start to drop during autumn.

Scientists haven’t quite figured out yet where the water is flowing from, it may condense out of the thin Martian atmosphere or rise up from salty aquifers or underground ice. Michael Meyer, lead scientist on NASA’s Mars exploration programme, said that because of this discovery they now suspect “that it is at least possible to have a habitable environment today.”
