Snapchat has released an update today which adds two new features: first is a selfie-altering mode called “Lenses” and the other is a new feature will gives additional replays to users provided that they’re willing to pay for them. Snapchat introduced Reply in Additional Services about two years back to allow users to replay a snap one more time, since then it has provided one Replay per Snapchatter per day for free and now it’s going to allow folks who want more to pay for them.

Basically what this means is that if want to have the ability to replay some snaps one more time before they disappear for good you can now pay for the privilege, even though it’s a new revenue stream for the company it’s still keeping things pretty tight. For $0.99 users get 3 extra Replays and they can use them to replay three individual snaps, one snap can only be replayed once.

Lenses is billed as a “whole new way to express yourself” on the ephemeral messaging service, when using the camera to take a selfie users can press and hold on their face to activate Lenses. They can then select any one of the many selfie-altering Lenses before taking a snap.

Other surprises in this update include Trophies which tucked beneath the camera, the latest Snapchat update is rolling out now for iOS and Android.
