oneplus-x_ubergizmo_06So far whenever OnePlus has released a phone, what they have done is rely on an invite system. This system is somewhat controversial but at the same time, it is a good way to manage expectations and also manage inventory. This is why it doesn’t come as a surprise that the recently launched OnePlus X will feature a similar invite system.

That being said, the semi-good news is that this invite system will only be valid for a month, and after that the company has promised that customers will have more opportunities to purchase the handset. This was detailed in the OnePlus Blog in which the company announced the changes they were making to the invite system.

According to OnePlus, “For the first month, the OnePlus X is available through invites only. In November, we’ll distribute invites much faster to our most loyal users, those who sign up for the reservation list, and shareables for your family and friends.” They also add, “After the initial month, you’ll have many more opportunities to buy the OnePlus X. Every week we will have open sales. After making sure that our production can keep up with the demand, the OnePlus X will be available without invites forever!”

We’re not sure if this only applicable to the OnePlus X or if this is a new system that the company plans on adopting for future devices, but for now if the OnePlus X is the handset you’ve had your eye on, this is the system that you will need to deal with.
