walmart-blackfriDrones are definitely here to stay, and there are no two ways about it. The thing is, what do we do with them? Do we ensure that the use of drones are properly regulated? What we do know is this – when used correctly, drones can be rather useful in everyday life. For instance, giant retailer Wal-Mart is now looking to test out drones when it comes to the likes of home delivery and pickup services.

In fact, Wal-Mart Stores Inc have already applied to U.S. regulators for permission to test out drones where home delivery, curbside pickup and checking warehouse inventories are concerned. This is a move in the right direction that Wal-Mart would like to go up against Amazon where delivering online orders are concerned. Earlier this April, Amazon has been given permission to test its delivery drones around the country.

These small unmanned aircraft systems have undergone internal testing for quite some time already, but all of those times have been indoor tests. This marks the first time that such drones, manufactured by China’s SZ DJI Technology Co Ltd., will experience outdoor testing. I’m pretty excited with the development of drone usage where everyday life is concerned, and would like to see it be more pervasive.
