starcraft 2StarCraft 2: Legacy of the Void went live last week. As expected given the loyal fanbase of StarCraft, the game has gone on to sell pretty well because according to a tweet by the official StarCraft Twitter account, it turns out that Blizzard had managed to sell more than 1 million units within the game’s first 24 hours.

To put this in context, the first StarCraft 2 title Wings of Liberty launched in July 2010 and the game managed to sell 1 million units in August. By the end of 2010, Wings of Liberty managed to net 4.5 million units in sale, meaning that given the same amount of time, it is possible that Legacy of the Void will no doubt be capable of eclipsing its predecessors.

We suppose this shouldn’t be a complete surprise. StarCraft 2 has evolved greatly over the course of various updates and expansions. Not to mention the new features Blizzard has introduced will make it more appealing to gamers, and how can we forget that considering that Legacy of the Void will officially conclude the ongoing StarCraft storyline, even if you’re not a fan of competitive RTS, you might still be tempted to purchase the game just to find out what happens at the end.

Following Legacy of the Void, Blizzard also announced the Nova Covert Ops DLC which will be arriving in 2016. It will be based on Nova, the character from Heroes of the Storm (and the cancelled Ghost console game), but details about the DLC are scarce at the moment.
