isis-day-of-trollingIt has been said many times that in the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king. Hence, if we were to carry out the rule of “an eye for an eye”, the whole world would end up blind eventually. Still, there are times in life when difficult decisions need to be made. There was the “ISIS day of trolling” which was announced by loosely affiliated hacktivist collective Anonymous earlier on, and it seems that there are consequences behind such an announcement, as the ISIS-affiliated Islamic Cyber Army (ICA) decided to strike back, so to speak, by releasing information of many high-ranking French and U.S. military officials – and we are talking about sensitive information such as full names, addresses, phone numbers, and personal emails.

The ICA did indulge in referring to Anonymous as “idiots” for its declaration of war against the Islamic State, cites that they have access to 700 U.S. military officials in the full database. Many of the leaked personal information point to data concerning numerous mid-level military officials, with at least one French lieutenant general, a handful of French colonels, as well as a communications officer for the U.S. Strategic Command (STRATCOM).

When do you think this cyber war will end? At least on paper, there are no beheadings – which we can be thankful for.
