Livestream, a popular broadcasting service, revealed to its users via email today that it believes it may have been hacked. As a precautionary measure it’s not advising all users to reset their passwords. User account information that may have been accessed includes names, email addresses, encrypted version of passwords as well as phone numbers and date of births if users provided them to Livestream.

In its email to users Livestream said that it recently discovered that an “unauthorized person” may have accessed its customer accounts database. It’s now investigating the full scope of the incident, and reiterates the some of users’ account information may have been accessed.

Livestream does mention though that it doesn’t store credit card numbers or payment information, and it also believes that encrypted passwords have not been decoded.

With over 300,000 users though, a breached database is the last thing that this company would want. These things happen though and the only thing users can now do is ensure that they quickly change their passwords to be one the safe side.

Just because Livestream has no reason to believe that encrypted passwords may not have been decoded, that’s not enough to throw caution to the wind and not worry about the potential outcomes of such a breach.
