korea-gamingWith more people owning mobile devices like smartphones and tablets these days, it isn’t surprising to see mobile games become more popular. We have definitely come a long way from simple mobile games, with some titles being extremely complex and deep, take for example the various Final Fantasy ports that have made their way onto our phones.

So does this mean that mobile games could eventually replace PC games? Unfortunately it does not seem like that is the case, at least not as far as the foreseeable future is concerned. According to the latest data from SuperData Research, it has been revealed that in 2015, digital PC games have outperformed mobile in terms of revenue.

The report claims that downloadable PC games made more than $32 billion in 2015, versus the $25.1 billion made from mobile. The combined revenue from the top 10 PC games was $6.3 billion, versus mobile which pulled $6.18 billion. However while PC is still in the lead, the difference in revenue isn’t as big as we thought.

So while it might not necessarily outperform PC games in the next year or so, based on what we are seeing it does seem like it eventually will, but as to whether or not mobile can eventually replace PC is a different story as both are completely different platforms with different playstyles.
