whatsapp groupWhatsApp is a great platform to use if you’re looking to communicate with friends and family, regardless of where they are, as long as they have an internet connection. We’re pretty sure many of you guys out there are also involved in group chats for WhatsApp, where maybe you’re trying to organize for a friend’s birthday, or just a regular group chat for random topics.

Now we’re not sure how many friends you actually plan on chatting with at once, but it seems that WhatsApp has recently made a server-side update to its app where they have increased the limit of users in a group chat to 256. Prior to this, the maximum allowed by WhatsApp was set at 100, which admittedly is a lot to begin with, but it looks like it is now much higher.

We’re not sure why anyone would need so many people in a chat, but perhaps it could be used by businesses with many employees to try and coordinate meetings, or send out alerts. We imagine it can also be used for events where people try and coordinate who’s doing what, and where, and etc.

In any case like we said, this is a server-side update meaning that you won’t need to do anything on your end. Android users will need to have at least version 2.12.367 or higher, so if you are still running an older build then you’ll need to update it in order to see it.
