Say your wedding is coming up in 6 months and your goal is to lose a couple of pounds so that you’ll look good in your tux/dress and in photos. That’s a goal you can set for yourself on pretty much any app, whether it be an email reminder to yourself, a note in a Reminders-type app, or maybe just a good old-fashioned Post-It note on your computer’s monitor.

However Google has announced that they are introducing a new feature to Google Calendar in the form of goals. The idea is pretty simple and straightforward where you can now set goals inside your Google Calendar, so if your wedding is coming up soon, you can set a goal to lose weight by hitting the gym at least three times a week leading up to the date.

Once you’ve entered that goal into Google Calendar, Google will then try to help you achieve those goals by looking for the best time for you to perform those activities. For example if you have events scheduled for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, Google will probably take that into account and try to get you to hit the gym on days that you aren’t as busy, such as Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and/or Sunday.

The feature is also smart enough where it can even adjust and adapt to your schedule, so if something pops up last minute in your calendar, Google will shift those goals to a later time/date when you’re more free. The feature is live in the Google Calendar app for iOS and Android, so head on over to the iTunes App Store or Google Play to check it out if you don’t have it installed already.
