lyft_scheduleThe thing about taxis is that you can schedule them in advance, so say you’re going to the airport during rush hour on a certain day and you don’t want to fight the crowd for a cab, you can always call ahead and schedule one for that day. Unfortunately the same service was not available on ridesharing companies like Lyft or Uber, at least until now.

According to a recent announcement made by Lyft, it seems that users will now be able to schedule rides ahead of time. A spokesperson for the company said, “Passengers have asked us for this feature, so we want to roll this out to give additional peace of mind to our users when they have specific trips coming up — like to the airport. People like the security of knowing they already have a ride scheduled.”

Lyft isn’t the first ridesharing company to offer scheduling. Gett, a New York-based service has already offered the service to its customers, so in reality Lyft would be the second to offer such a service. As for Uber, there have been rumors to indicate that they might have at least toyed with the idea, but so far nothing concrete has materialized, but what do you guys think? Is scheduling a feature that you’re happy is making its way to ridesharing services?
