Most drone makers are smart enough to build in a warning/indicator that your drone is running low on battery, meaning that it’s probably a good time to start landing it lest it dies while in mid-flight. Unfortunately we’re sure that more than one drone owner has missed out on those indicators, resulting in their drones crashing to the ground.

Sometimes you’re lucky and you escape with nothing more than a few scratches, while other times the drone might have end up with a broken propellor or worse. The good news is that if you’re a drone owner, there is an attachment in the form of the mini parachute that will deploy to help prevent your drone from crashing to the ground.

Built by ParaZone, the SafeAir Pyrotechnic Parachute Recovery Solution will clip onto the top of your drone and thanks to a built-in chip, it will be able to detect when the drone is in free fall and will deploy the chute. Users will be able to define the speed of the drop rate, meaning that the chute won’t accidentally deploy if you’re looking to do some acrobatic maneuvers on purpose.

Now from what we can tell in the video, the drone looks like it will still land pretty hard, albeit slower so we guess it’s still better than nothing. Unfortunately there is no mention on its website of how much the attachment will cost or how to purchase it, but drone enthusiasts should probably keep an eye out for it in the future.
