xmen cartoonIf you’re a fan of the X-Men franchise and have enjoyed the movies so far, you might be pleased to learn that there could be an X-Men TV series in the future. A report from Variety has revealed that Marvel and Fox are teaming up to create an X-Men TV series and that the series will be written by Matt Nix.

For those unfamiliar, Nix is the creator of Burn Notice which was a pretty good show, so it would seem that the X-Men TV series would be in good hands (hopefully). Fox has reportedly made a put pilot commitment which seems to suggest that Fox is heavily invested in the project and that they really want it to work out.

As far as the storyline is concerned, it doesn’t sound like it will include any of the current X-Men, but it will involve mutants (naturally). Variety says, “The untitled series will focus on two ordinary parents who discover their children possess mutant powers. Forced to go on the run from a hostile government, the family joins up with an underground network of mutants and must fight to survive.”

No word on when we can expect the pilot to air, but like we said, if you’re a fan of the X-Men and would love to see more of them outside of the comics and movies, here’s hoping the pilot will be good enough to warrant an entire season.
