sc2-unit-skinsAs far as the StarCraft franchise is concerned, the current storyline has pretty much come to an end, meaning that if and when Blizzard does start thinking about StarCraft 3 (if they haven’t already), it will focus on a completely brand new story. However in the meantime, it sounds like Blizzard still has plans for StarCraft 2.

In a post on Reddit, it seems that some gamers have been receiving emails from Blizzard asking them to participate in a survey. According to the post, it sounds like Blizzard is entertaining the idea of selling announcer/voice packs. From the survey, it looks like Blizzard is considering voice packs featuring the likes of Jim Raynor, Dustin Browder, Thrall, Murky, Hearthstone Innkeeper, Snoop Dogg, and so on. Basically it sounds like a mix of real people and fictional characters.

It also sounds like Blizzard might be interested in selling unit skins, emoticon packs, and so on at varying prices. From another post on Reddit, it looks like Blizzard is using a different survey with price points and skin options, which sounds like they’re trying to cast a wide net. There is no word on whether Blizzard plans on making this happen, but it does sound like one way they could go about extending the lifespan of StarCraft 2.

Given that Blizzard has seen some success by selling in-game items in the likes of Hearthstone, Heroes of the Storm, World of Warcraft, and Overwatch, perhaps it could be applied successfully to StarCraft 2 as well, but what do you guys think? Yay or nay to the in-game purchases?
